Ivan Southerland invented the graphical user interface.
The brain has a memory of it’s evolutionary state and it’s called Genetic Memory. Also see Pre-Adaptive Behavior.

User Centered Design

Prototype created for Pearson Education in 2007 as a part of an exploration in online learning environments for Middle School students and teachers. The project began as a two month study with several pilot schools in the Phoenix area. We employed a User Centered Design methodology while working directly with students to craft a prototype environment. The prototype formed the central piece of a presentation to Pearson Education’s senior management and was one of the leading factors that led Pearson to rethink their investment strategy as it applied to education technology.

Design for K-12 Education

While working at Pearson, Inc. I had the opportunity to work in a small, talented group of folks to design the next generation of Pearson Education products for K-12. The shift toward digital curriculum was inevitable, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time for a revolution. (and had a good leader) It started with a technology presentation to shareholders which led to work on enVision Math that led to a platform redesign of Pearson SuccessNet to support all K-12 products and then design for Miller & Levine Biology, Prentice Hall Literature, Social Studies and many others there after. (Product release dates of 2009, 2010 and 2011)
