Problem Solved

CAPITAL LETTERS

My mother insists on typing to me in all CAPITAL LETTERS. I don’t know if it is to everyone, or just me. I brought it up once…

_

I said, “HEY MOM, COULD YOU QUIT YELLING AT ME OVER IM? WHEN YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPS IT FEELS LIKE YOUR YELLING.” (LITERALLY I think I can still hear HER from here)

_

Mom, “I’M NOT YELLING, SO STOP IT”.

_

I went on to try and explain that it was bad etiquette to type in all caps unless she was trying to add emphasis, or was really yelling. It did no good. I was reminded of this again in the Twitter UI.

I love the conversational use of copy and the added emphasis of capital letters for, OKAY, I STILL WANT TO BLOCK THIS PERSON. It adds emotion and resonates visually as well as contextually. Thanks again Twitter for your exceptional attention to detail.

I think she was really yelling, I mean ADDING EMPHASIS…

Maybe she sees the capital letters more clearly than the lower case ones?

Lol. She has 20/20 vision. I’m pretty sure she does it so she doesn’t have to capitalize certain letters and can type even faster. But it made a funny story to go with the UI I wanted to point out.

    yub, just counterpointing :)

I’ve blocked my share of twitter users and the UI always speaks to me when I am in the blocking mindset.

+ It made me change my mind once.
